Radiation Protection Officer Examination:

The presence of a Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) is a requirement for licensing various radiological practices. The RPO is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the radiation protection program within the radiological practice and acts as the official liaison with the NRRC to ensure compliance with additional requirements set by the NRRC. Candidates who wish to obtain a Radiation Protection Officer license must meet the following conditions before applying:

  1. Passing the Radiation Protection Officer Exam: related to the specific radiological practice. More details about the exam can be found by clicking here.
  2. Educational Qualification: A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, although a diploma may be considered if it is in the field of radiological practice.

Passing the Radiation Protection Officer Exam is also a requirement for renewing the RPO license. Those interested in obtaining an RPO license can access the Radiation Protection   Officers Portal through this link: (Radiation Protection Officers Portal), and more information about the portal can be found below.

Radiation Protection Officers Portal:

The Radiation Protection Officers Portal aims to automate the licensing procedures for RPOs and facilitate access to services related to their licenses. The NRRC continuously adds new services to enhance the service level and simplify communication between RPOs and the NRRC.

Currently, the portal offers the following services for RPOs:

  • Registration for the Radiation Protection Officer Exam: RPOs can register for available exams and track their results using this service. More information about the Radiation Protection Officer Exam can be found by clicking here.
  • Issuing a Radiation Protection Officer License: This service allows users to apply for a new RPO license after successfully passing one of the RPO exams. More details on obtaining a new RPO license can be found by clicking here.
  • Renewal of Radiation Protection Officer License: This service enables RPOs to request the renewal of their license as it approaches its expiration date.
  • Changing the Facility Associated with the Radiation Protection Officer: Through this service, RPOs can request to update the facility where they work. This service aims to link facility licenses with the RPOs responsible for them and facilitate communication, supporting the NRRC's regulatory activities for these facilities. More information about changing the associated facility can be found by clicking here.
  • Verification of Radiation Protection Officer Licenses: This service allows entities to verify the validity of an RPO license by entering the required information.

Radiation Protection Officer Exam:

The NRRC has launched a computerized Radiation Protection Officer Exam, available at multiple centers throughout cities and regions across the Kingdom. Candidates can schedule their exams and choose the most convenient location after completing the registration process and paying the exam fee through the Radiation Protection Officers Portal. Candidates can select the appropriate exam track based on the radiological practice they are involved in.
