Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Notifications

The response to radiological and nuclear emergencies in the Kingdom is conducted according to the National Plan for Radiological and Nuclear Emergency Response, issued by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 263 dated 1/9/1429H. According to the NRRC's responsibilities outlined in this plan, the NRRC receives and processes notifications of nuclear and radiological incidents from within and outside the Kingdom. The NRRC assesses the risks of these incidents, models the behavior of radioactive material dispersion in different environmental media, and recommends proactive national measures to mitigate the impact of such incidents. This includes continuous environmental radiological monitoring and early warning systems, participating in field response operations to control incidents, and conducting radiological analysis and assessment through laboratory measurements.
