Continuous Environmental Radiation Monitoring and Early Warning Network
The national Continuous Environmental Radiation Monitoring and Early Warning Network operates across 400 locations within the Kingdom, connected to the NRRC's Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Operations Center. Each monitoring station continuously measures radiation doses and provides alerts in case of any anomalies. This network is also linked to the International Radiation Monitoring Information System (IRMIS), which relies on radiation monitoring data from the early warning networks of countries that are parties to the Early Notification Convention. This international system enhances decision-making and coordination, particularly for countries experiencing a nuclear incident or those neighboring them, to improve nuclear emergency response.
