Inauguration of the International Nuclear Security Capacity Building Center in Vienna
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced the inauguration of its International Nuclear Security Capacity Building Center at its laboratories in Seibersdorf, near Vienna, Austria. The opening ceremony was led by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and the CEO of the NRRC, Dr. Khalid Al-Essa, in the presence of representatives and ambassadors from 60 countries. Mr. Grossi expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other contributing nations for their support in establishing the center. The Kingdom had initiated the idea of creating this center and generously donated $10 million for its establishment as part of its international efforts to strengthen the global nuclear security system and combat nuclear terrorism.
