Nuclear and Radioactive Materials Transit Permit Platform

The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC) has launched the “Nuclear and Radioactive Materials Transit Permit Platform” platform to coincide with the seventh anniversary of the commencement of its operations. The platform is a specialized digital system designed to automate and govern the procedures for issuing transit permits for nuclear materials and radioactive sources through the Kingdom’s land border crossings. This initiative reflects the Commission’s continued efforts to strengthen its regulatory framework, advance digital transformation, and improve the efficiency of its regulatory services and procedures.

The platform aims to enhance the efficiency of the national regulatory system governing the movement of regulated nuclear materials and radioactive sources by providing a unified digital environment for managing transit permit applications. It facilitates procedures, accelerates processing times, and strengthens governance and regulatory compliance in accordance with national regulations and relevant international obligations and agreements.

The Nuclear and Radioactive Materials Transit Permit Platform enables the electronic submission, review, and processing of applications for the transit of nuclear materials and radioactive materials through structured and automated procedures. This enhances processing efficiency, improves the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, strengthens data accuracy and reliability, and establishes an integrated database that supports informed decision-making while achieving the highest levels of efficiency in implementing regulatory procedures.

The platform also supports electronic integration with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, enabling effective operational interoperability between the two entities. This integration facilitates the secure and reliable exchange of data related to the transit of nuclear materials and radioactive materials, thereby enhancing the efficiency of regulatory procedures, accelerating processing times, and strengthening coordination between the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
