​The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC) received a visiting delegation from the Energy Attaches​  at the U.S. Embassy, which included Dr. Kelly Barfield, who is currently visiting the Kingdom. Dr. Barfield presented insights on indicators and influencing factors of nuclear energy technologies and their integration with other energy sources. She highlighted the unique role of nuclear energy in emerging and rising applications, particularly in powering artificial intelligence technologies.

She also touched on the global regulatory role and its importance in these new aspects of nuclear energy design and applications. Additionally, the discussion emphasized the need to address prevailing public perceptions about nuclear energy by relying on facts and comprehensive strategic needs, as well as the importance of integrating nuclear energy with the overall energy infrastructure — including transmission networks and production continuity.​​​
