Workshop on "Introduction to the Legal and Regulatory Framework

Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission organized a specialized workshop in Riyadh titled “Introduction to the Legal and Regulatory Framework and Enhancing Radiation Safety and Security in Medical Radiation Practices,” with the participation of healthcare professionals and specialists. The workshop was held as part of the commission’s ongoing efforts to enhance awareness of the laws and regulations governing the medical use of radiation and to strengthen compliance with radiation safety and security requirements across healthcare facilities in the Kingdom.

During the workshop, the commission reviewed its regulatory and supervisory role in overseeing nuclear and radiological activities and practices, highlighting its responsibilities in protecting people and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. The event also introduced participants to the commission’s electronic services and explained the procedures and requirements for obtaining licenses and permits related to medical radiation practices, aiming to facilitate regulatory processes and improve compliance efficiency.

The workshop further discussed a range of technical and regulatory requirements associated with licensing medical radiation activities, while emphasizing the importance of implementing radiation safety and security standards within healthcare institutions. These measures contribute to ensuring the safety of workers, patients, and visitors, while minimizing risks associated with radiological applications.
